Kelsey + Ben
I met with Kelsey + Ben for their engagement session photos at White Shutter Winery and The Upper Sandusky Reservoir in Ohio. We started at the White Shutter Winery, close to Upper Sandusky, for the first half of their engagement session. We lucked out with the weather because the rain storms held off for us. Those same looming storms also gave us some gorgeous clouds and made the temperature perfect for being outside.
Kelsey + Ben changed their clothes and we all drove to the Upper Sandusky Reservoir for the second half of their engagement session. The sky was even more beautiful at the reservoir. At one point it started raining on us and thankfully I had an umbrella for my beautiful couple. Kelsey actually loved the rain and was gleefully laughing while we got more photos. It was magical! A rainbow faintly popped out for them and the sunset was stunning.
Q: How did you guys get engaged?
A: Ben proposed about 9 months into our relationship on July 18, 2020 (2 days after my birthday 😉) We knew very early on in our relationship that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, so why wait to begin? I have never been one for big gestures.
So, Ben kept it personal between the two of us and proposed to me in my home.
Obviously, knowing full well we were going to be spending the rest of our lives together, I had some suspicion it would be coming sooner rather than later, but It was still very unexpected! I was very happy, excited, and ready to begin planning. 😁
Q: What’s your favorite part about being engaged?
A: Our favorite thing about being engaged is knowing we are going to be starting the next large chapters of our lives together. We enjoy looking forward to our greatest adventures. We look forward to making memories, sharing laughter, and staying by each other’s side even when we are old and grey. We can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives with our best friend. ❤
Q: What advice do you have for future couples planning their wedding?
A: Start planning early!! It has helped us tremendously. Venues, photographers, Djs, Hair Stylists, and Make Up artists take time and money to book, and can be booked out months if not a year in advance. Bridal Dresses take 6 months from ordering to come in, so make time for alterations in addition to that, and remember bridesmaids gowns take 3-4 months.
Life happens. Money troubles may appear due to unexpected expenses. Plan on that. Set money aside. Pay things off quickly so that you don’t get too close and lose the things that make your special day yours.
The earlier you prepare, the better. I’m so glad I started early, and if I can recommend anything to other brides, it’s to do the same. It has made the last 6 months prior to the wedding nearly stress free, and given me tons of time to polish things off and start looking at the little things.

Wow, gorgeous!
I’m in LOVE with these pictures! They look amazing and so do the two of you!
These are seriously the prettiest and yet most simple engagement pictures I’ve ever seen. What a beautiful couple🥰
I love this! I’m so excited for the both of you and your future. The pictures are great, what a unique idea with the rain. I’m blessed to be your mother and to gain an addition (another son) to our family. I get to see the love between you first hand and the pictures show that as well. Best wishes for your future. Love you both!
These pictures are gorgeous as are the two of you.
Kelsey, I think you caught a heck of a nice guy with or without the beard.
Welcome to the family❣ Love Grandma
